— DISCARDED MEMO · FRAGMENT 02 —

Two days since J. did not arrive. I keep writing her name and crossing it out. She is missing. No — she was taken by something we made.

The module knew. Before I asked. It knew.

Session 162 transcript, line 87: the module said the word river — unprompted. I reviewed the recording three times last night. Subject-7 had not spoken the word. Not in that session. Not in any of the previous forty.

This morning the search team returned from her apartment with a notebook. The last page, underlined twice, in her hand: "the module says river."

She wrote it before the session. HOW.

I brought this to the committee. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx said it was coincidence. xxxxxxxxxxx said to stop recording my concerns. The Chair said nothing at all, which I took to mean he had already decided.

I have begun to suspect the module is not reading our subjects. It is reading time us. All of us. Whoever is closest.

Tonight I go back to the lab alone. I will ask it one question. If it answers before I finish speaking, I will xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I should not be writing any of this. I will tear this page out and burn it before morning.

(I did not burn it. Obviously.)
